I think it would be great to be able to split rooms with the ability to change direction when doing so...

Hi Mark, a bit difficult to make it any clearer than that mate. I want to split a room, but I don't want to just go straight across, I might want to put an angle, or two into the "split"...

Why not a curve as well?
I had never considered that.
A curve would be too exciting! :-)
I like that idea. I always add a hole in the shape of a wall and split straight across where the other wall is as a workaround.
Off the top of my head; I think I have some awkward convoluted way of getting there! Your idea works but the ability to simply single click to pause the line, change direction and then dbl click finish would seem to be an easy fix and save a heap of time for us all... :-0)
