It would be nice if the insert text was red and not black or even better if we could set a default size, shape and color as sometimes we make multiple notes on the plans but you have to customize it every time you make a note.

The "Text" box allows you to change the color of the text. I usually use it just to add room numbers to connected hallways/rooms. I size one box to the size of the Measure generated room numbers and copy/paste.
