Labor, Service or Sundry Add-ons for Add-on Products (i.e. Shoe, Luan, etc.)

This would be a great improvement.  Whenever we have Add-ons for Shoe Molding, Tile Base, Luan, Cement Backer, Waterproofing, etc., we are unable to have a Labor Rate, Service Line, or Sundry linked to any particular Add-on Product.

    Hi James,

In the past we have purposely avoided allowing nested Add-ons due to the risk of users ending up with an unwieldy tangle of interlinked products and services that could be very confusing and even throw off their quantities. Nevertheless, the example you provide makes a lot of sense.

We are currently looking at ways to allow limited use of nested Add-ons. For instance, you might be able to apply Service items to a Misc. product, but be prevented from then applying a third layer of Add-ons to the Service product itself. Hopefully that makes sense.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  • I agree with James.  Simple stuff like Cove base.  We have to have this as an add-on because it needs to be set on perimeter.  But that Cove base needs a labor line plus cove base adhesive. Right now I am just adding them separately, but it would be nice when your in a rush to not forget the glue, or labor and end up losing money.  Attaching add-ons to product is so you don't forget things.  Another example.

My floor Tile needs certain add-ons in every room so I add those onto the product in product edit. But then some rooms need a Ditra underlayment.  That Detra is set as an add-on and calculated as area SF, but that ditra needs a labor line and more thin set. How can I not add those two to Ditra which is set as an add-on already.

Right now I have to add all the extra add-ons separate. I also have to remember to change the calculation on my thin set from tile coverage to ditra coverage, which we create those calculation separate, and have them saved under Advance Settings.  Since this is the same thin set that is used with my tile as well as under my ditra.  Being able to add all those add-ons under my ditra material with all the right calculation, takes so many moments away from forgetting or missing items.
