"Hot Key" Computer Keyboard customization

About 2 years ago, there was a feature on desktop where you could "customize" several keyboard buttons to have assigned tools instead of having to manually search for them on your tool bar or right clicking with your mouse.

For example, I assigned F1 for Insert Point and F2 to Delete Point. That allowed me to have the Escape Button (for changing my cursor back to default), F1 and F2 accessible on my left hand. I was able to speed up my drawing time by at least 50%. In addition, I saw a reduced time of training with first time users as well.

This feature was removed probably because it was buggy but I found it really useful. I believe that the direction RFMS should look into for feature should be similar to this like the video editing and gaming community have figured out; you can speed up workflow just but setting up customized "Hot Keys" on your keyboard instead of manually changing everything with your mouse.

  • Gary, if you put those hotkeys on WASD it goes even faster. you have to use CTRL also as of now but, i am trying to get them to enable one key hotkeys to give us more freedom to set them how we need them.
