FAQ: LiDAR Draw

Which devices can utilize this feature?

Only iPhone and iPad Pro devices with built-in LiDAR cameras can access LiDAR Draw.

Why don't I see the LiDAR Draw tool in my Add Room menu?

The option to create rooms with LiDAR Draw is only available on devices with compatible hardware. If you are not using a compatible device, or your device's LiDAR camera is not detectable, the option will not be shown on the Add Room menu. If you believe you are using a compatible device but still do not see the option, navigate to the Projects screen and tap the hamburger menu in the upper-left corner to see which version of the app you're running. LiDAR Draw is only available in Measure Mobile 5.5.50 or higher.

Can LiDAR measure through furniture and other objects?

Since the LiDAR camera continuously gathers data as it is moved and rotated, it can infer the presence of walls behind most furniture and other objects as long as the walls are not completely obstructed. Note that very small rooms containing many objects (i.e. closets) can result in inaccurate measurements due to limited wall visibility. In such cases, manual verification of measurements is highly recommended.

Can furniture be detected and included on the drawing?

Yes! When starting the LiDAR Draw process, check the box labeled "Include objects" The app will utilize AI to not only detect the presence of furniture, but also attempt to determine what type of furniture it is. Once the room is drawn, identified objects can quickly be swapped out for 3D Clipart:

Does LiDAR detect windows and doors?

Yes! The positions and sizes of transitions are automatically detected, and the appropriate symbols are automatically added to the drawing:

The properties of each transition, such as window height, distance from floor, etc. also persist into the 3D Viewer:
