Working with Saved Forms and Templates

The formatting, organization, and layout of a form can be saved for later use within the same project, or on other projects. Additionally, the software has several default templates that can be used as-is or customized and saved for future use.

Access Saved Form and Template options from the File menu in the "Generate Forms" screen. User-created templates have a Custom_Template_Icon.png icon next to them, whereas default templates are shown with a Default_Template_Icon.png icon.

Saved Forms vs. Templates

Saved Forms and Templates both allow estimators to quickly apply predefined form layouts to the current estimate. This includes the method by which the data is organized, how the form is sorted, and the information displayed in the header and footer. Although the two features are similar there are notable differences:

  • Saved Forms
    • Saved only within the current project.
    • Can be loaded from other projects.
  • Templates
    • Saved into the Measure software.
    • Once a template has been created, it can be applied to any project directly from the "Generate Forms'" File menu.

How To:

Apply a Saved Form

1.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

2.  Click the "Open" button.

3.  Select any Form that has been saved into the current project.

Apply a Saved Form from Another Project

1.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

2.  Click the "Open" button.

3.  Click on "Open from another project".

4.  In the window that appears, navigate to the Folder in which the project is stored.

5.  Select the project file and click "Open". If the file contains any Saved Forms, they will be loaded into the current project.

6.  Follow the steps in the "Apply a Saved Form" section above. The Forms from the other project will now be available.

Apply a Template

1.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

2.  Select a Template from the "Available Template" list.

Create a Saved Form

1.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

2.  Click the "Save" button.

3.  In the window that appears, enter a name for the Form and click OK.

Note: Newly-created forms are only retained in a Measure project when the project file itself is saved from the File menu on the drawing screen. If a Saved Form is created and Measure is closed without first saving the Project file, the Form will not be retained.

Create a Template

1.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

2.  Click the "Save as Template" button.

3.  In the window that appears, enter a name for the Template and click OK.

Delete a Saved Form or Template

1.  Load the Saved Form or Template by following the steps in the "Apply a Saved Form" or "Apply a Template" sections above.

2.  Open the File menu in the upper-left corner of the "Generate Forms" window.

3.  Click the "Delete" button.
