All Add-On items must be assigned a calculation method. These are divided into eight categories along the left side of the Calculation Methods window.
The unit of measure assigned to a product dictates which methods it is compatible with. Using an incompatible calculation method will result in inaccuracies. Example: A user sets quarter round, which is sold by the linear foot, to be calculated based on the area of a room. Area calculations are only compatible with products sold by a square unit of measure. As a result, the gross quantity for the quarter round is incorrect.
Most categories include a visual representation of the currently selected method in order to illustrate how the Add-On will be calculated. The representation changes dynamically as calculation parameters are enabled or disabled. |
Compatible Units: SF, SM, SY
- Area of the Room
- Use the entire area of the room as a basis for calculation. Unchecking this box will cause the calculation to be based on the area of all holes in the room.
- Area of any Borders
- If borders are in use, include their total area as part of the Add-On calculation.
- Area of Coving
- If coving is in use, include its total area as a part of the Add-On calculation.
- Area of any Holes
- If a room contains holes, include their total area as part of the Add-On calculation. Unchecking the "Include Area of the Room" box forces this box to remain checked.
Compatible Units: LF, LM, LY
- Outside of Room
- The calculation will be based on the perimeter of the room.
- Inside of any Borders
- The calculation will be based on the inner edges of any borders. If borders are not present, the room perimeter will be used.
- Holes Only
- The calculation will be based on the total perimeter lengths of all holes in the room. If no holes are present, the Add-On will not be applied.
- Transitions and Edges Only
- The calculation will be based on the total lengths of all transitions and edges within the room. If there are neither transitions nor edges in a room, the Add-On will not be applied to it.
- Selected Segments
- If one or more sides of a room are selected when the Add-On product is chosen, it will only be applied to those sides and this calculation method will be used automatically.
Tip: Left-click a perimeter segment to select it and left-click again to toggle it off or on.
Conditional Options based on the above choice:
- Include any Holes
- Include the total perimeters of all holes in a room when calculating the Add-On. This option is only compatible with the Outside of Room and Inside of any Borders methods.
- Include any Transitions
- Include the total lengths of all transitions when calculating the Add-On. This option is only compatible with the Outside of Room method.
- Include any Edges
- Include the total lengths of all edges when calculating the Add-On. This option is only compatible with the Outside of Room method, and is only available when the Include any Transitions box is unchecked.
Note: The calculation methods in this category may only be used on stairways.
- Stringer Length
- Compatible Units: LF, LM, LY
- The calculation will be based on the length of the stringer. Must select right or left side option.
- Stair Nose Length
- Compatible Units: LF, LM, LY
- The calculation will be based on the combined length of all stair noses in the room.
- Step Count
- Compatible Units: EA, HR
- The calculation will be based on the total number of steps in the room.
Compatible Units: LF, LM, LY
- Seam Length
- The calculation will be based on the total length of all seams in the room.
- Border Seam Length
- The calculation will be based on the total length of all border seams in the room. This includes mitered corner seams and any additional seams added to the border by the user. If the room does not have a border, the Add-On will not be applied.
- Coving Corner Weld Seams
- The calculation will be based on the total length of all corner seams used in the room's coving. If no coving is present, the Add-On will not be applied.
Compatible Units: EA, HR
Note: For the purposes of this calculation method, a corner is defined as a point (). Handles () are not counted.
- Count All Corners
- The calculation will be based on the total number of corners in the room.
- Only Inside Corners
- The calculation will be based on the total number of inside corners in the room. Inside corners point toward the outside of the room.
- Only Outside Corners
- The calculation will be based on the total number of outside corners in the room. Outside corners point toward the inside of the room.
Compatible Units: EA, HR for "Count of..." methods; LF, LM, LY for "Support Wire Length"
Note: All calculation methods in this category copy the quantities established in the Ceiling Tile Editor.
- Manual
- Unlock the "Net Quantity" field in the Add-On window so that a specific amount may be entered.
- Copy Floor Unboxed Qty
- Copy the quantity of the room's main product listed in the "Unboxed Quantity" field on the worksheet.
- Copy Floor Gross Qty
- Copy the quantity of the room's main product listed in the "Gross Quantity" field on the worksheet.
- Grout
- The calculation will be based on the main product's grout width and tile depth.
-
Note: This method is only viable when used in conjunction with items from the "Ceramic w/ grout" product category. Additionally, the tile product in the room must have a grout width and tile depth assigned to it in the Product List.
- Roll
- Deprecated feature. Use "Copy Floor Unboxed Quantity" or "Copy Floor Gross Quantity" instead.
- Tile Count
- The calculation will be based on the total number of tiles in the room. For the purposes of this method, each partial tile will be counted as if it was whole.
- Plank
- Deprecated feature. Use "Copy Floor Unboxed Quantity" or "Copy Floor Gross Quantity" instead.
- Internal Tile Cross Points
- The calculation will be based on a count of all points where at least three tiles meet, excluding tiles around the perimeter of the room.
- Perimeter Tile Cross Points
- The calculation will be based on a count of all points around the perimeter of the room and any holes in the room where tile corners meet.
- Tile Joint Length
- The calculation will be based on the length of the internal edges of all tiles in the room.
