All of the tools you will need to add, remove, or edit seams on a project are located in the Seams tab.
Moving and Editing Seams
Use the Select tool to select individual cuts and move seams. While the Seams tab is active a room cannot be resized or moved.
Select Tool Keyboard Shortcut: Shift+F1
How To:
- Enable the Select tool.
- Left-click a cut that is adjacent to the seam you want to select.
- Left-click the seam's handle.
- Drag the handle to move the seam and resize the cut.
Flip default seams to the opposite side of the room based on the room's lay direction.
Example: A room with an easterly lay direction has several t-seams along the north wall. Using the lay direction as the axis of rotation, the Flip Seams tool would move them to the south wall.
How To:
- Select at least one room clicking on a cut within it.
- Click the button under the Seams tab of the Ribbon Bar.
Tip: This tool can be used on multiple rooms at the same time. Drag a selection box around them, or Ctrl+Click multiple rooms with the select tool prior to clicking the Flip button.
Place a full roll width of material down the center of a room, parallel with its lay direction. The room's remaining seams will be generated around the central strip of material.
How To:
- Select a room by clicking any cut within it.
- Click the button under the Seams tab of the Ribbon Bar.
Use this tool to indicate where the initial length seam should be placed in a room. As part of this process, Measure may create or remove additional seams in order to optimize allocation and reduce waste. If more t-seams are created, their total will not exceed the number specified in the Maximum Allowed T-Seams drop-down box.
How To:
- Click the button under the Seams tab of the Ribbon Bar. When the cursor is moved over the drawing, it will change to crosshairs. Red guidelines will appear when the mouse is over a room.
- Click a location within a room where the initial length seam should be placed.
- Press the Esc key or select another tool from the Ribbon Bar when finished.
Tips:
- It is not necessary to select a room prior to activating this tool.
- "Set Edge" only affects rooms with unlocked seams.
Lock seams in place so that their placement is not disturbed by changes in other room layouts.
When a room that uses a roll product is changed in such a way that its default seam layout is no longer be optimal, Measure will reallocate that product. As a result, seam placements in other rooms containing the same product may be adjusted. The most common causes of automatic reallocation are changes to a room's size or shape, or manual adjustments to its seam layout. The "Lock Seams" tool prevents this behavior.
Note: Users retain full control over the locations of locked seams. They are only "locked" in the sense that Measure will not move them without direct user input.
In addition to manually locking seams, the software itself may trigger a room's layout to become locked if the user makes significant changes to the default seam placements. By default, seams that Measure generates automatically will appear as black, dashed lines, whereas locked seams are represented by blue, dot-dashed lines.

Cuts may be created at any angle using this tool. When an angled cut is created in a room with unlocked seams, that room's seams automatically become locked. (See: Lock Seams above)
How To:
1. Select a cut on which the angled seam will be placed. |
|
2. Click the button under the Seams tab of the Ribbon Bar and move the cursor over the drawing area. A red dot will appear on one side of the cut. 3. Use the red dot and its accompanying measurements as a guide to find the starting point for the new seam. Left-click to place the start point. |
|
4. Another red dot will appear along with a set of guide measurements and a red line linking the start point to the dot's current position. Locate the end point for the cut and left-click. |
Select a seam and remove it from a room.
Note: Attempting to remove a seam that would result in a cut that is wider than the material's roll width is not allowed and will result in an error.
How To:
- Click on a cut bordering the seam that is to be deleted. All surrounding seams will be highlighted in red and handles () will appear in the center of each one.
- Click on a seam's handle to select it.
